So far, the management is excellent, and the staff is very helpful. I have learned a lot working for this hospital and all of the staff has helped tremendously with my shift from nursing home to acute care. The hardest part about the job is staying up on midnights, everything else, the staff is willing to work with you on learning.
Expands your skills
LaPorte Hospital is an excellent place to work. In the ED you have to be a well rounded nurse given that it a small ED. The staff work hard to help with patient care and flow.
Staff is rude
Staff would give me (a new grad) 6 to 7 patients at a time...then would split me 3 days in a row...i would always have complex patients that went down the tubes quick with 5 out of 7 patients on telemetry. Just unfair assignments and rude coworkers. Very few nurses did i actually feel cared when i explained concerns.
CNA work
I worked on the 3rd floor as a CNA on midnight shift. I really enjoyed the job but the hours are difficult for family life. After my children are both in school I would love to work there again.
Friendly, fast paced work environment
I love working with people, the front desk of the lab gave me the opportunity to greet people and put them at ease. I also worked in the back of the lab and had many other tasks which made the day go by fast. There was never a boring day, we always had fun.

I enjoyed. My experience at LaPorte hospital staff was always friendly and very team oriented even when it was crazy busy! It’s definately a great place to work and if recommend it to anyone if they were looking for a job in the nursing field!
i have worked there for over 25 yrs
Over the 25 yrs and after having a number of managers things are at their very worst in senior and over all management. My immediate supervisor is great though. The for profit mentality I'm afraid is much different than the not for profit mentality.
